| Completion of the East Barn building works | |||||||||
| By Christmas 2000 the building work to the east barn was completed. The building work included extending the dorms, new toilets and showers, disabled facilities and making much needed repairs to the fabric of the original building. We set aside the month of January to decorate and furnish the building ready to re-open in February. This would leave just the landscaping and grounds work to be undertaken in the spring. Along came the foot & mouth outbreak which meant closing the Centre for just over 3 months, disappointing groups and a loss of income. Every cloud has a silver lining, this gave us time to landscape the grounds. With the help of John Keyworth 30 tonnes of top soil was barrowed, turfs laid, a wild flower garden established and new borders planted out. We have had positive comments from groups regarding the improvements and especially the lovely new areas which have been created outside. | |||||||||
